Congratulations to Abbotsford's Mackenzie Carson and Tausani Levale who have been selected to the Canadian u-20 team. As well, Mackenzie will be playing her rugby in the English Premiership next season! Check out her rugby profile below!
Mackenzie who has played for the ARFC since the age of 9 starting in the mini rugby program all the way to the Senior Women’s team that won the Div.1 Championship in 2016. She first represented the Fraser Valley in 2011 and would go on to represent BC at the age grade level from 2012-2016 winning the first ever Gold Medal for the U16 division at the National Championship. She also captained the U18 7’s team that won the first ever Gold medal at the National Championships in 2016. Most recently she was a part of the BC Senior Women’s team that won Bronze at the national championships in 2017. Mackenzie has also represented Canada at the U18 and U20 level for the past two years with the hopes of being reselected this summer. After spending two years at the University of British Columbia on scholarship, Mackenzie was given an offer to play for the Bristol Bears in the Tyrrell’s Premiership Division in England for the 2018/2019 season. This league is home to many England internationals and will push her to the next level of her rugby career. This team will roster a total of 60 players which will provide a competitive and world class level of play each week. Mackenzie has also volunteer coached the U16 and U18 Fraser Valley teams last summer that took home silver at the PRC tournament. Rugby is Mackenzie’s passion as her long term goal is to become a high school teacher and coach to get more girls involved in rugby in the Lower Mainland.
