First Abbotsford Old Boys Game

The Abbotsford Originals, the new over 38 team based out of Abbotsford, took to the field on Sunday, Sept 13 for the first time ever. They took on the East Side boys based out of East Vancouver and Delta. The visitors had some difficulties with players still on vacation and came with less than 10, but fortunately the Abbotsford side had over 25 men available and shared some of their numbers. The Originals were outfitted in new Kukri kit sponsored by new player Mike Dicks' Dixy's Diner. Todd Diguistini, who did much of the leg work to get the team off the ground, cracked a bottle of champagne after the game to commemorate the inaugural occasion.

Referee Clinic in Abbotsford

The BCRU is offering a referee course in Abbotsford on Friday September 18 (6-9pm) and Sunday September 20 (9-2pm). The course is $60, which the ARFC will cover for club members interested in participating and willing to help referee club or school games this year. Kukri New Apparel Provider

Kukri Canada is  proud to announce the signing of a three year Kit Sponsorship Deal with the ARFC. Kukri will supply all teamwear and Official ARFC merchandise which will be available to buy online. Kukri will also be providing the ARFC with a financial kick-back for all apparel purchased online.

On the three year deal Scott Hunter, former Canadian National Team Player and current men's team captain is excited about the new Kukri apparel. “I have seen the designs and look forward to wearing the new kit in the upcoming season.”

Abbotsford Results from Bayside 7's

On Saturday, August 22, Abbotsford took two teams to the Bayside 7's for a day of sunny rugby in White Rock. The tournament had four divisions with a men's (12 teams), women's (4 teams), U-19 boys (6 teams), and old boys (4 teams) divisions. Abbotsford had a team in the men's division as well as the U-19 boys division. Many players were unavailable for the weekend, but those who played had a good time and played well. The men finished in the top 4 and the U-19 team lost in the final to an older Surrey team. Read on for Abbotsford rosters, results, and scorers.
