The Abbotsford Women traveled to New Westminster to take on United Rugby Club Feb 2nd. The ARFC Women are currently in first place and United is pushing them with a 6-2 record. The game did not start off the way Abby wanted with United storming down and scoring right off the opening kickoff. Abby were unable to regroup and United scored two more converted tries to make the score 21-0 with only fifteen minutes into the game. Abby then started to put together some phases which led to some great attacks from Viviana Johnston and Mackenzie Fowler. Johnston scored two tries and Fowler added one. One of the nicest tries of the game is when scrumhalf Elyssa Phillipson attacked short side off of a scrum and linked up with the backs and then getting the ball back to score under the posts. Winger Erin Skillings also scored to tie the game 24-24 at the half.

The second half it was another slow start by Abby but again they were able to come together and take over the game for the remaining 30 minutes. Centers Shalaya Valenzuela and Mackenzie continued to find holes in the United defense. One of the best trys of the second half is when Valenzuela made a break and passed over the shoulder to winger Alex Motoc who then fed back inside to MacKenzie Fowler who scored. The forwards provided clean ball all game with huge work by back rowers Jerusha Dunsmore and Ashlynn Smith. The tight five did a great job in the sets driving united back and stealing the ball on a few occasions. United selected Jerusha Dunsmore as top forward and MacKenzie Fowler as best back.
