The ARFC U-15 2013 Edition met and equaled the previous years' squad by running the league and playoff schedules undefeated and becoming the BC Provincial Champions. The group blanked the Capilanos 36-0 in the final at Exhibition Park to earn the title. Tries in the final were scored by Anton Phonsavadthy (4), Diego Zuniga, and Callum McRae with three converts from Jayden Ned.
The twenty five players and their coaches showed that dedication, commitment, and a 'team first' attitude were the key ingredients to an outstanding season. The team was not the largest in stature, continually the smaller team on the day, but, to a man, were far more athletic than the opposition day in and day out. The U-15's bought into the coaching philosophy and were stellar on defense, holding their opposition to 4 points a game while scoring an average of 34, proving that defense truly does 'win championships'. The ARFC squad epitomized the team concept in such a way that the coaching staff could not pick out any individuals for awards. This led to the only time in ARFC history, that the award plaques for Best Back, Best Forward, and Most Valuable Player will be engraved with "The Entire U-15 2013 Squad"!
The coaches and team would like to thank the ARFC Executive and Jen Ross (Youth Director) for their support. They would also like to thank all the parents for their commitment in getting their boys to training and games in the rain or shine.
