The Abbotsford Originals, the new over 38 team based out of Abbotsford, took to the field on Sunday, Sept 13 for the first time ever. They took on the East Side boys based out of East Vancouver and Delta. The visitors had some difficulties with players still on vacation and came with less than 10, but fortunately the Abbotsford side had over 25 men available and shared some of their numbers. The Originals were outfitted in new Kukri kit sponsored by new player Mike Dicks' Dixy's Diner. Todd Diguistini, who did much of the leg work to get the team off the ground, cracked a bottle of champagne after the game to commemorate the inaugural occasion.

Many of the Original's players showed prowess on the field, some even looking like they belong back in the top divisions of the club. The Originals won by default, and contributed to many nice tries on both sides of the ball. The four 15 minute quarters seemed to be cherished by some of the players who have been away from the game for awhile, especially with the 30 degree weather.
